November 13, 2009 -
As a leader in the specialty-built trailer and transport system industry,
Talbert Manufacturing, Inc., announces another innovation for Talbert spread axle trailers – The
Equalizer – a nitrogen-assisted dampening system that hydraulically transfers loads in all
terrains. This distinctive suspension system oscillates around a central self-tracking pivot point to
provide proportionate weight distribution in each axle grouping, regardless of varying road
conditions. Designed as a simple user-friendly system, operators can make easy and quick
adjustments, and maintain those settings to maximize loads safely and efficiently. By
hydraulically dampening axle movement and controlling load transfer, The Equalizer
suspension system absorbs hauling and loading shocks; providing a greater range of suspension
movement for reduced stress and a smoother ride. The Equalizer is available for use with
Talbert 55SA (55-ton) and 60SA (60-ton) 3+1 spread axle series trailers and axle attachments.
In addition to its advanced design, The Equalizer also incorporates a duel 2-speed landing gear
making connecting the trailer to the axle attachment much easier. The unique design of The
Equalizer also allows the axle attachment to be lifted out of the way easily for backing. Since
no shimming is required, considerable time is also saved operationally and empty travel is
possible without removing the booster and attachment. The Equalizer allows a 14-ft, 1-in
spread with 54-in axle spacing; and a 14-ft, 7-in spread with 60-in axle spacing. The system is
powered by a Honda gas engine power pack as standard.
Founded in 1938, Talbert Manufacturing provides the most complete line of heavy haul trailers
and specialized transportation equipment for the commercial, industrial, military and government
sectors; and in applications that include renewable energy, aerospace, heavy construction, in-
plant material handling, manufacturing and processing systems, and much more. For more
